Yes, the soft top roof folds electronically about 20 seconds even while you’re driving at speeds of up to 32 km/h. It has three settings, including MINI's hallmark sunroof mode, and the roof slides back to allow up to 40 cm of light to stream in. You can open or close it remotely when the car’s parked. You can even get a ‘rain warner’ app for your smartphone to tell you to close the roof of your car if it’s likely to rain where you’ve parked it.
It drives very similarly to its MINI Cooper equivalent, with the roof not really having any negative effect on the handling. You enjoy plenty of grip, as well as excellent agility when you take corners. There are two performance levels to choose from – Cooper and Cooper S. They both have a 2.0 litre TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder petrol engine. But whichever you choose, they both deliver an exhilarating drive that’ll make you breathless at corners.
It is more luxurious than ever, with more features on board, too. It comes with the stunning, frameless OLED display that combines the functions of the instrument cluster and the on-board monitor and infotainment hub. With a fully charged battery the all-electric MINI Aceman can reach a range up to 400 km. The range will vary according to driving habits and conditions. How you drive can make a big difference to your available range and how quickly your charge is used.
Driving at a steady pace, rather than frequent, foot-down acceleration, will help you optimise your range. The Green mode offers you a consumption-reducing setting. It helps you get used to using the pedal to stay in an efficient range. If the efficiency meter strip glows green, you’re doing fine. If you speed up too powerfully, it’ll turn grey. It evaluates your efficiency since the start of your journey – and shows you how many bonus miles you’ve collected.
With its fully closed underbody, rear spoiler, tightly drawn contours and aerodynamically refined wheels, the all-electric MINI Aceman achieves an excellent drag coefficient. With such low wind resistance, it is extremely efficient, enabling you to drive even further before needing to recharge.
